A year ago, the baggage limit on the flights to Lukla was (unofficially at least) 15kg in the hold and 5kg in carry on. Now the word is that they have clamped down very tightly on these limits.
This is going to make packing a WHOLE lot harder.
I signed up for my trek in Nepal in 2015 over a year before the trip was scheduled to leave. Up until January this year, I was not sure whether there would be sufficient numbers to make the trek happen. Then, I was told that I would be able to go solo. It took a while to get used to this idea, and then when I had come to terms with what that might mean, the company managed to sign up an extra person.
The earthquake on 25 April put paid to the plans of those two people. And it was back to square one.
For the April 2016 trek, the company already has two people signed up. I’d make number 3. The company wants 6. If they don’t get 6, and the others who have signed up don’t want a sherpa-led trip, then it will be back to just one again.
What a wonderful numbers game this is.
Someone asked me yesterday why I wanted to go to Everest Base Camp.
I showed them this photo.
